Columbus City Hall & Central Safety Building

Chiller System Replacement

City Hall & Central Safety Building

about this project

This project involved the replacement of the chiller systems at City Hall and the Central Safety Building. The chillers needed to be replaced because they exceeded their expected life and have incurred extensive maintenance costs in the last few years. Replacement included new chillers, new condenser water pumps, new chilled water pumps, stand-alone chiller controls with interface to the building BAS, and new cooling towers.

RDFA’s role was to provide the Mechanical and Electrical design and Construction Administration for this project.

Notable engineering features of this Project:  Replaced one chiller at a time in each building to maintain year-round cooling. Chiller and Tower access in each building required detailed planning.

Construction Budget:  $2.2 M
